When it comes to building and designing a new deck, it is imperative that the deck harmonizes with the overall aesthetics of your home. Coordination in color, texture, and design is crucial to ensure the deck seamlessly integrates with the rest of your home, this will prevent it from appearing as a mere afterthought or addition.
At 3 Brothers Decking, we place a great deal of emphasis on ensuring that your deck compliments the rest of your home. Every element, from the deck’s seamless integration with the house, to the thoughtfully designed deck structure, and our meticulous selection of materials- all plays a pivotal role in achieving a harmonious alignment.
In the drone video above, you can view the finished results of this beautiful wrap around deck with a matching gazebo project. In this blog post, we will break down the elements of this project.
This particular home was situated on expansive grounds, enveloped by towering trees, creating a truly magnificent setting. With such a spectacular home, it was only fitting that we designed and built a deck to match! The property was surrounded with lush greenery, including the grand trees, well-tended gardens, smaller bushes, and luxuriant green grass.
We wanted to make sure that the deck and gazebo that we had designed would fit in perfectly with the environment, and help the home owner be able to host the outdoor parties of their dreams.
The home had a dark wooden exterior, so we needed to ensure that the decking matched this. We choose a deck that was closely aligned to the walls, with a natural texture that would fit right in.
As this home was immersed in the surrounding wilderness, we opted for a cable railing system for a number of reasons. First, this railing is incredibly safe, whether that be for adults, children, or even pets. Additionally, cable railing ensures that the views are uninterrupted, giving the homeowner the opportunity to enjoy the surroundings.
We included this railing system on the stairs as well, to ensure consistency and a natural flow from one area to the next.
The wrap-around deck was enhanced with carefully selected furniture, providing areas where the homeowner can relax and take in the scenery. Wooden rocking chairs added a nice touch, creating the perfect space in which to sit back and be surrounded by nature.
On one of the larger areas of the deck, the homeowner placed more modern furniture and a rectangular fire pit. This made the perfect space to be able to entertain or to relax while watching the sun go down, both in summer and winter. On the other side of the wrap around deck, they placed a dinner table, also made of wood that easily fit in with the natural outdoor theme.
A large loft-style roof created a sense of space and airiness, with down lights installed for cozy evening occasions. The inside of the roof matched the rest of the home, with open beams to let more air in and offer a more expansive view of the sky above.
This was a great addition to the project. The gazebo design created the perfect break-away space, with the design and style matching the rest of the home. It was set at the end of a short pathway leading out from the home, close to the large trees that surrounded the property. The gazebo featured open walls to allow for the movement of air and an uninterrupted view, while a selection of carefully chosen furniture enhanced the entire space. Two hanging chairs were a great touch, creating the perfect space in which to relax, while a ceiling fan was included for those warm days and evenings.
It was important for us to ensure that the entire gazebo matched the rest of the home, so we selected a similar color for the beams and inside of the roof, and the top of the roof to match that of the main property’s roof.
The last great touch to this space were the string lights that were added around the main beams, which creates the perfect, cozy ambiance when spending an evening in here.
Another great addition to this gorgeous deck was the built in jacuzzi (hot tub) that overlooks the landscape below. The jacuzzi was custom built into the lower level of the deck, with a pristine view looking out over the trees and garden below. We opted not to place railings around the jacuzzi so that the homeowners (and their guests!) could enjoy the view and make the most of the unique space on the deck.
Alongside the jacuzzi the homeowner placed more wooden furniture which further complemented the space, creating an area of relaxation and a place in which to kick back and enjoy the view.
