When it comes to building a deck on your home, one of the most important aspects is that it complements the rest of the building. The color, textures, and overall design must align with the rest of your home, to avoid the deck looking like an addition that is an afterthought.

At 3 Brothers Decking, we place a great deal of emphasis on ensuring that our decks complement the rest of the home. How the decks flow from the rest of the house, how the deck is structured, and the type of materials we use – these are all important aspects that we consider carefully.
In the drone video, you can see our completed work. In this blog post, we showcase a property that gives a great example of this.
The property

This specific home was set on a large ground surrounded by tall trees. It was a magnificent home that needed a magnificent deck! The home was surrounded by greenery, from the large trees and garden areas to the smaller bushes and lush green grass.
We wanted to make sure that the deck and gazebo that we had planned, would fit in perfectly with the environment.
A dark exterior

The home had a dark wooden exterior, so we needed to ensure that the decking matched this. We choose a deck that was closely aligned to the walls, with a natural texture that would fit right in.
The railing system

As this home was emersed in the surrounding wilderness, we opted for a cable railing system for a number of reasons. Firstly, these railings are incredibly safe, whether that be for adults, children, or even pets. Secondly, cable railing ensures that the view is uninterrupted, giving the homeowner the opportunity to enjoy the surroundings.

We included this railing system on the stairs as well, to ensure consistency and a natural flow from one area to the next.
The deck

The wrap-around deck was enhanced with carefully selected furniture, providing areas where the homeowner can relax and take in the scenery. Wooden rocking chairs added a nice touch, creating the perfect space in which to sit back and be surrounded by nature.

On the larger area of the deck, the homeowner placed more modern furniture and a rectangular fire pit. This made the perfect space in which to entertain or to relax while watching the sun go down, both in summer and winter. Under the deck, they placed a lunch table, also made of wood.
The deck cover

A large loft-style roof created a sense of space and airiness, with downlights installed for those evening occasions. The inside of the roof matched the rest of the home, with open beams to let more air in and offer more of a view of the sky above.

The Gazebo

This was a great addition to the project. The gazebo design created the perfect break-away space, with the design and style matching the rest of the home. It was set at the end of a short pathway leading out from the home, close to the large trees that surrounded the property. The gazebo featured open walls to allow for the movement of air and an uninterrupted view, while a selection of carefully chosen furniture enhanced the entire space. Two hanging chairs were a great touch, creating the perfect space in which to relax, while a ceiling fan was included for those warm days and evenings.

It was important for us to ensure that the entire gazebo matched the rest of the home, so we selected a similar color for the beams and inside of the roof, and the top of the roof to match that of the main property’s roof.

The last great touch to this space was the string lights that were added around the main beams, which at night create the perfect ambiance.

Built in jacuzzi

Another great addition! The final piece added to create a deck that dreams are made of was a jacuzzi that overlooks the landscape below. The jacuzzi was set on a large part of the deck, on the lower level with a view out over the trees and garden below. We opted not to place railings around the jacuzzi so that the homeowners (and their guests!) could enjoy the view and make the most of the unique space on the deck.

Alongside the jacuzzi the homeowner placed more wooden furniture which further complemented the space, creating an area of relaxation and a place in which to kick back and enjoy the view.
